In 1827 Printmaker. Studied in Great Yarmouth with John Sell Cotman to whose Norfolk series (1818 and 1819) he contributed, and in London with George Cooke. 1818, published "A Set of [ten] Etchings Illustrative of Beccles Church and other Suffolk Antiquities", enlarged with a further sixty etchings and published in 1827 as "Series of Etchings Illustrative of the Architectural Antiquities of Suffolk"; 1826, published 22 engravings by Lambert after his drawings as "Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in Suffolk". Supported his family (6 surviving children) by teaching drawing, and from a public library and reading-room that he opened in Ipswich during the 1820s. 1833, furniture and books sold to pay his debts and thereafter printed his own material and sold prints singly, producing 200 etchings between 1835 and 1849, and 44 lithographs between 1850 and 1864. As well as architectural subjects, made topical prints.1
