- 1648 - The Sir Robert Hitcham School is a charity school that was founded by Sir Robert Hitcham in 1648.
- 1668 - New building built on the site of the original Market Cross, and after which the building is named. The top floor was the schoolroom and the ground floor was often used as a Corn Market.
- 1818 - 50 attended, 20 were taught free
- c. 1870 Moved to it's current site on School Corner.
- 1994 - The School was extended and remodelled.
- 1999 - Nursery Unit added.

Public Elementary School built in 1835 on Cherry Tree Green by Mr. Pollard for £140 10s 6d. and accomodated 70 boys and 70 girls

The Debenham High School was officially opened on 9th October, 1964 - the first pupils having arrived on 9th September.
Church of England Comprehensive for pupils from 11 - 16.The first headmaster was Arthur Holifield.
In 2011 the School changed its status to an Academy.
