Johannes Metcalfe, son of Marire, son of John Felgate and his wife Elizabeth, who was instituted in this church on the twenty-third day of February in the year of Our Lord 1574, after thirty-two years of residence there, and at his death gave to the inhabitants various lands formerly belonging to the Felgates, for the sake of charity, and here he rests.2
