     John Davie was born on 13 Sep 1777.1 He was the son of Samuel Davie and Rachel Denny.1 John Davie was baptized on 15 Oct 1777 in The Congregational Chapel, Debenham, Suffolk, England.1 He was educated on 21 Jun 1794 in Sidney College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England; Adm. sizar at SIDNEY, June 21, 1794. S. of Samuel, farmer, of Debenham, Suffolk. B. there Sept. 13, 1777. Schools, Ipswich (Mr King) and Barham (Mr Kirkby). Matric. Michs. 1795; Scholar, 1796; B.A. 1799; M.A. 1802; B.D. 1809; D.D. (Lit. Reg.) 1812. Fellow. Master, 1811-13. Ord. priest (Norwich) Sept. 20, 1801. Vice-Chancellor, 1812-13. ‘The delicate state of his health made him ill fitted for the office, but so anxious was he not to neglect his duties, that his life was sacrificed before the expiration of his Vice-Chancellorship.’ (Gunning, Reminiscences, II. 285.) Died at Bungay, Suffolk, Oct. 10, 1813, aged 36. Buried there. (Suckling, I. 151; Life and Letters of Maria Edgeworth, (Vol. I. 198); G. M. Edwards.)2 He was listed as a beneficiary in Samuel Davie's will on 30 May 1800 in Suffolk, England; Jonathan is a Beneficiary as well as Executor. The Will was made 19th November 1799.3 John Davie died on 10 Oct 1813 in Bungay, Suffolk, England, at age 36.2 He was buried after 10 Oct 1813 in Bungay, Suffolk, England.2
