This Memorial Inscription is inside the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene, above the Pulpit. The inscription reads:.
This humble memorial
records the death of
ROBERT GREEN,
(Son of SAMUEL and MARY GREEN,)
Lieutenant of the Royal Marines,
who fell in the Battle of Trafalgar,
on board the Royal Sovereign,
the 21st of October 1805,
beloved and lamented
in the 21st year of his age.
And also
that of his Brother
SAMUEL GREEN,
Captain of the 6th Regt N.I.
on the Madras Establishment.
He was honoured in his profession,
beloved in his friendships,
an affectionate and duteous Son,
a humble and devout Christian;
He died in peace
on the 14th Of September 1818,
in the 32nd year of his age.
