Florence Mary Corner was born on 22 Jan 1879.3 She was the daughter of William Corner and Mary Lockwood.2 Florence Mary Corner was baptized on 12 Mar 1879 in St. Mary Magdalene, Debenham, Suffolk, England.4 On 25 Dec 1914, Florence Mary Corner was living at Debenham, Suffolk, England.5 She married Wilfred John Gudgin, son of Joseph Gudgin and Lydia Toseland, on 25 Dec 1914 in St. Mary Magdalene, Debenham, Suffolk, England. Witnesses were Gertrude Emma Corner A further witness was Albert Frank Moore Gudgin.5 Florence Mary Corner died on 13 Aug 1972 at age 93.3

She apparently used to drive a horse and trap and also ride her bicycle with her umbrella up. As she was the oldest she was the font of all knowledge about Debenham to the rest of her family and wish I had recorded her stories. She told of her Mother, Mary, giving food and drink to the local tramps in a back room. (None of the Corners drank apparently) The stream outside also used to flood I believe.

She used to tell us every Christmas day ‘It was the first motor wedding in Debenham’ (Wilfred was a baker at the time and I think they met as he delivered the bread) Wilfred was the son of Joseph & Lydia nee Toseland from North End Huntingdon. They lived at 9 Fuchsia Lane Ipswich. Their Daughter Majorie Lydia was my Mother – Born 24/09/1913 D 07/01/1995. I was born 14/07/1952 and was Baptised in Debenham. Robert John Simpson (my father was Victor Charles Simpson.)3
