Research Note

Between 1891 and 1901 At some point between the 1891 Census and the 1901 Census, the family stopped calling themselves "Mayes" and started calling themselves "Plant". They are enumerated in both the 1901 and the 1911 Cenus's as "Plant". All the children were registred in the name of "Mayes". It may have something to do with Henry Mayes (the father), being born illegitimately to Louisa Mayes and Henry Plant. Further research needed.
